I love Charlotte engagement sessions because of the diversity between urban and natural settings available in and around the city. I always recommend to you that you choose a location that matches your personality and vision. It’s even more fun if you choose a spot that is sentimental or a typical “date night” for the two of you like watching the sunset or hitting up a local cocktail lounge for a quick drink.
I’ve created a list of my favorite engagement session locations around Charlotte, NC that I regularly recommend to my clients to help decide on where to take them.
Now let’s dive in…
This spot has been a long time favorite of mine for the iconic gold doors, large stone columns, and iron fencing that compliments this building’s old-world architecture. This location is gorgeous from any side of the building so it’s perfect for a morning or afternoon shoot! And as a bonus the property features lots of trees and landscaping to give you a mix of that timeless old building vibe and some shots in nature as well.
Similar to the old courthouse, the old post office features traditional architecture with stone columns, navy blue doors, and beautiful stonework on the building. Definitely a perfect spot for a timeless Charlotte engagement photo locations! This spot is a little lesser-known and will be more private to shoot at. I love this spot for an afternoon/early evening shoot once the sun has begun to set! It’s also conveniently located nearby my next location suggestion, Romare Bearden Park, where you can take some skyline photos and nature pics.
This park offers it all! From skyline views to gorgeous nature backdrops, Romare Bearden Park is one of the most iconic locations in Charlotte to do your engagement session. Even better if you visit during early spring March/April when the cherry blossom flowers are blooming and create a stunning backdrop to your engagement photos!
Charging a small fee, the Duke Mansion features incredible landscaping throughout their gardens and Colonial Revival Architecture perfect for clients looking for a timeless and classy look to their engagement photography. Check out their property on their website.
Looking for a spot that feels less “city”? Freedom park may be perfect for you! This location has everything from manicured tree-lined paths with bridges and a huge pond, to their woodsy trails and river that runs wild through a corner of the park. You can choose your vibe here from more classic and timeless to more of an adventure-type session in the woods!
Camp North End is a hub for artists and creativity! Full of murals and local shops, this is a perfect location for clients looking for something a little different and unique.
The city gives you plenty of use from urban backdrops, modern buildings, and dramatic skyline shots. One of my favorite Charlotte engagement photo locations! Explore around the city and end with sunset on top of one of the parking decks for some truly stunning photos!
I haven’t shot here yet but it’s on my bucket list! This location is perfect for you if you are looking for something that feels outside of the city. Stunning lakeside views and natural beauty along the water. Run along their sandy beaches and snuggle up on the pier during sunset.
One of the more romantic backdrops for your engagement photos. The property is full of winding gardens full of stunning roses and other flowers. This location is ideal in the spring and summer when everything is in full bloom but is gorgeous any time of year!
Want your engagement photos to blow everyone away? You have to book with Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden! Just outside of Charlotte in Gastonia, NC sits the stunning gardens. The property has an indoor greenhouse as well with arches created out of plants. This creates an amazing backdrop no matter the weather! The venue does charge a photography fee.
